As India marks its 79th Independence Day and steps confidently into the transformative era of Amrit Kaal, we at JBM Auto stand firm to our commitment towards shaping the Nation’s electric mobility future., JBM Chief Nishant Arya says that as India is Changing for Progress “With a median age under 29, India’s workforce is its greatest strength. At JBM, we are committed not just to building electric vehicles, but to nurturing an ecosystem where skilled talent, innovation and sustainable development come together. As we honour India’s hard-earned independence, our vision is to foster a Bharat that leads in both scale and values, a Bharat that is clean, inclusive, and forward-looking. Together, we are driving the electric revolution and shaping India as the EV capital of the world.”
Nishant says Central to this vision is accelerating electric vehicle adoption by building a strong, self-reliant manufacturing and EV ecosystem. Our manufacturing facility, the largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing plant outside China, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses is a true testament to our green promise. Moreover, we have strategically expanded our lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility to 6GWh per annum, making it India’s largest high voltage battery manufacturing plant.
To enable seamless EV adoption, we have deployed over 550 DC fast chargers pan India, crafting a robust charging infrastructure that alleviates range anxiety and operational downtime for fleet operators. Beyond manufacturing and infrastructure, we are now working towards new age battery chemistries and smart EV charging solutions that reflect our commitment to sustainability.
Since 2018, our electric buses have clocked over 200 million e-kilometers and reduced over one billion kilograms of CO₂ emissions. We aspire to serve 20 billion passengers and traverse 3 billion electric kilometers in the next 3-4 years. These milestones directly contribute to cleaner air, reduced carbon footprint, and enhanced public health, a legacy we aim to build for future generations.
Various government initiatives such as FAME I & II, PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, etc. continue to play a pivotal role in accelerating India’s electric vehicle adoption and manufacturing growth. With a combined outlay exceeding ₹2 lakh crore, these policies not only boost the expansion of the electric bus fleet, where nearly 40% of FAME incentives have driven public transport electrification. Strong public-private partnerships are leveraging these programs to scale production, enhance innovation and generate employment opportunities nationwide.
Equally important is the development of skills that empower Bharat’s youth through this EV transformation. Currently, JBM Auto directly employs over 17,000 people and supports thousands more across our supply and service ecosystems. We invest extensively in upskilling, focusing on battery technology, electric drivetrains, AI-driven smart diagnostics and smart fleet management. For each new facility or international expansion, we prioritize adoption of global methods & skills sets to set new benchmarks.
