PUNE, May 29, 2025: An 87,000-square-foot new manufacturing facility has been opened in Pune by Kinetic Watts and Volts (W&V), a subsidiary of Kinetic Engineering (the maker of erstwhile Kinetic Honda two-wheelers), as it is seeking to expand its capabilities in electric mobility by producing parts for EVs.
The parent company, Kinetic Engineering Limited (KEL), has contributed Rs 48.5 crore to its subsidiary, Kinetic Watts & Volts Ltd (KWVL). Building on an initial commitment of Rs 18.5 crore, this includes a recent investment of Rs 30 crore in 2024.
For India’s expanding EV market, Kinetic W&V produces motors, axles, frames, controllers, and batteries. To enable high-quality and scalable production, the company intends to incorporate precision assembly lines, advanced automation, and sustainable practices.
According to a company official, the facility’s robotics-driven procedures and digitalised operations will guarantee effectiveness, consistency, and flexibility in response to shifting market demands.
The facility signifies a new era of innovation, sustainability, and electric mobility in India, said Ajinkya Firodia, Kinetic Group’s Vice Chairman, stating, “It is a proud moment for Kinetic Watts and Volts and the entire Kinetic Group to play a key role in supporting India’s national mission for electric vehicle adoption and reducing the carbon footprint associated with traditional mobility solutions.”
Ajinkya Firodia highlighted that “Watts and Volts aims to address diverse use cases, from personal commuting to fleet operations,” as part of Kinetic W&V’s future roadmap. The company is also actively exploring export opportunities, reinforcing India’s position as a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing.”
Under the direction of Mr. Ajinkya Firodia, Kinetic Watts and Volts (KWV), the electric mobility branch of the Kinetic Group, was founded in September 2022.
