MUMBAI, May 12, 2025: After receiving 8000 bookings within 24 hours of the MG Windsor’s launch on May 8th, the company has increased the introductory price of all its PRO series by Rs 60,000. MG officials attributed the price increase to earlier prices being for a limited time and expressed confidence in product attributes that engage customers, potentially helping them surpass market leader Tata Nexon in June, citing a steady increase in sales.
Tata Motors, the market leader, has consistently sold 5000 units per month across a diverse range of models, such as the Nexon EV, Tigor EV, Tiago EV, Xpres-T (for fleet buyers), Punch EV, and Curvv EV.
In contrast, MG, which currently offers only three models—the MG ZS EV, MG Comet, and MG Windsor, as well as the newly launched Pro—saw a significant increase in sales in the first two months of fiscal year 25-26, jumping from 1300 units in March 25 to 3500 units in April 25.
According to industry experts, the price increase reflects strong demand for the entry-level Windsor Pro model, which has seen its starting price rise from Rs 12.50 lakh to Rs 13.09 lakh, plus an additional charge of Rs 4.5 per kilometre.
The updated prices for all MG models include the Exclusive trim at Rs 14,99,800, the Essence variant at ₹15,99,800, and the Essence Pro at ₹18.10,000. The new Windsor Pro has a larger 52.9 kWh battery, increasing the claimed range to 449km (ARAI-certified), up from 332km with the 38 kWh battery in previous trims.
Consumers have expressed interest in the powered tailboard, vehicle-to-load (V2L,) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, and an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) that includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, and intelligent headlamp control.
The Windsor Pro also includes a new dual-tone ivory-black seat upholstery that replaces the standard Windsor’s all-black upholstery, as well as three new colour options: Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, and Glaze Red.
