MUMBAI: 1st May 2025: Tata Motors, in collaboration with Tata Power’s subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has announced an ambitious plan to generate 300 million units of green energy to power its six manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Gujarat through the construction of a 131 MW solar hybrid renewable energy project.
During the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Vishal Badshah, Vice President of Operations for Commercial Vehicles at Tata Motors, stated, “This project demonstrates our commitment to incorporating renewable energy into our operations and reducing our carbon footprint while meeting our RE-100 targets.” It also represents our overarching goal of providing sustainable mobility solutions at all stages, from production to performance.
Pramod Choudhary, Vice President of Operations for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, also stated, “With this PPA, our facilities in Maharashtra and Gujarat will make significant strides in our pursuit of Green Manufacturing, supporting India’s green transition.” This is an important step towards improving the sustainability, intelligence, and resilience of our passenger vehicle operations.” Choudhary explained.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in Tata Motors’ transition to clean energy, aiming to meet its RE-100 commitment before the 2030 deadline and fostering significant progress towards climate-resilient operations. Furthermore, it marks a significant milestone in Tata Motors’ sustainability strategy, aligning with the company’s overall goal of achieving net-zero emissions and leading the movement towards environmentally responsible manufacturing.
