
TAMIL NADU, SHOOLGIRI, 29th May 2025: BSE-listed Schaeffler India, a global leader in motion technology, has announced an investment of Rs 1,700 crore over the past three years to enhance its capabilities in powertrain and e-mobility solutions in the country.
The company’s top management announced at the opening of the new €35 million manufacturing facility in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu, that the facility’s primary focus will be on both traditional and electrified powertrain technologies for the domestic market.

At the moment, Schaeffler India runs production plants in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Pune. It offers state-of-the-art products, technologies, and solutions targeted at electric vehicles, low CO₂ emission drives, sophisticated chassis systems, and renewable energy sources.
Covering 16,500 square metres, the new facility will boost heavy-duty press operations and clutch production capacities. With a primary focus on the Indian market, it will act as a centre for the development and manufacturing of both conventional and electrified powertrain technologies, such as planetary gear systems, hybrid gearbox components, and new and emerging innovations.
According to company executives, the new facility will help Schaeffler India achieve its long-term global growth goals in India by greatly increasing its capacity for gearbox components.

The new facility is an important step in increasing Schaeffler AG’s global manufacturing footprint and improving localisation in the area, informed Matthias Zink, CEO of Powertrain & Chassis.
He said, “It helps us achieve our long-term growth goals and puts us in a better position to satisfy growing market demands, enabling us to develop with the Indian market.” Zink added
Schaeffler India Limited’s Managing Director and CEO, Harsha Kadam, also stated that the business is ideally situated to meet the demands of the local market both now and in the future as the shift to e-mobility progresses. This demonstrates the Schaeffler Group’s dedication to India as a major engine of growth, he further added.

Furthermore, in 2023, the business purchased the B2B e-commerce platform KRSV Innovative Auto Solutions Pvt Ltd (Koovers).
The Shoolgiri facility has a number of environmentally friendly features, such as the use of natural daylight, rainwater collection, battery-operated material handling equipment, zero liquid discharge with reuse systems, and energy-efficient machinery with eco-mode functionality.
Waste heat recovery, 100% LED lighting, digitalised operations, ergonomic workstations, and an inclusive and diverse workplace are additional sustainability measures.
Schaeffler’s three business segments in India—Automotive Technologies, Vehicle Lifetime Solutions, and Industrial Solutions—are all expanding rapidly. The business is on course to emerge as the top motion technology company in India.

Schaeffler India, which is listed on the BSE, reported Rs 13,382.2 crore in revenue for the full year, a 21% increase from the previous year. During the same time frame, their net profit increased by 9% to Rs 887.2 crore.
